- Dog Days Flea Market
If you like treasure hunting, then you'll love checking out a flea market on the weekends. Dog Days Flea Market sits on over 100 acres on land on an open field in Ardmore, Tennessee, just over the Alabama state line. The flea market actually started in the 1940's as a place where hunters would meet on Mondays to let their hunting dogs run in the woods and trade dogs; hence, the name: Dog Days. A lot of things have changed since those first days and crowds on Memorial Day and Labor Day Weekends make it one of the largest flea markets around. It's open every Sunday and Monday. Head out Hwy 53 (Jordan Lane) out of Huntsville to get to Dog Days Flea Market.Dog Days Flea Market originally appeared on About.com Huntsville, AL on Sunday, September 5th, 2010 at 13:18:07. When Mr. Key Underwood buried his faithful dog Troop in the Freedom Hills of North Alabama, he established an annual tradition among coon hunters, families, friends and strangers, alike, who join together at the cemetery to remember the coonhounds buried there and to celebrate Labor Day with live Blue Grass music, buck dancing, a liar's contest and southern Barbecue. Free.
Coon Dog Cemetery Labor Day Celebration is Labor Day, Sept. 6, 2010 at 4945 Coon Dog Cemetery Rd., off AL Hwy 247, Tuscumbia. For more info, call (256) 383-0783.

- Huntsville Insider Info
Here's some things I learned in Huntsville this week:
- My editor in New York sent me this link about Huntsville. A Channel 48 newscast has one viral on YouTube. This interview has been converted into an Auto-tuned song that is now for sale on itunes--even tshirts are being made about this brother/hero. It's serious, but very funny, too. Check it out.
- There will be a llama and alpaca show at the A & M Agribition Center on Moores Mill Road, beginning at 8 a.m. on September 4, Saturday. There will be 49 llamas and 21 alpacas shown. The Admission is free.
- Scarecrow Trail Opens THIS Weekend at Huntsville Botanical Garden. The Scarecrows are arriving daily and they've gone Hollywood, from Jack Scare-ow to film producer Martin "Scare"-cese, these famous 'crows are sure to entertain star-gazers of all ages. The newest addition to the Scarecrow Trail: Hay Bale Art--plus old favorites, the sorghum maze and hay rides on the weekends. Hay rides on Saturdays: 10 am - 4 pm and on Sundays: 1 pm - 4 pm.
- I found this in my About.com Google newsletter: Free Phone Calls From Gmail. Read more...

On the weather map...Looks like we're in for an excellent weekend weatherwise as the heat wave of 2010 has finally been broken. High pressure will be in firm control as slightly cooler air, along with much drier air has worked into the Tennessee Valley. While afternoon temperatures will still hang around 90 through the weekend, it will feel much cooler with the dry air. Chance of rain this weekend is zero...so get out & enjoy the taste of fall in the air!
